MiniShopping guide to Edinburgh

Jeg digger å shoppe i Edinburgh – det anbefales – her er min personlige lille shopping guide to fantastiske  tatt rett ut av Harry Potter bøkene byen.

//I love shopping in Edinburgh and so should you!

Cockburn street, just off the tourist infested but must see Royal Mile, has some of the best shops. Cookie for cute dresses and skirts, just across the street you’ll find the Gothic/ heavy metal wear shop and for alternative music you have Avalanche – all located within spitting distance of each other. But my favourite store (of all) is ’Pie in the Sky’. They have a multitude of brands and also stock jewellery, make-up, funny hair colours, funky handbags and very nice staff.

For more high street fashion you should hit the high street – aka Princess street – where the usual suspects like H & M. Gap, River Island, Top shop and so on is located. There is also Waterstones with enough books to full fill all my reading needs, remember that books in the UK is much cheaper then in Scandinavia. Rose street is parallel to Princess street – among the many pubs there is some good shoe shops and the brilliant two story hight Fopp – with many offers on CD, DVD and books. Parallel to Rose street there is the upmarket George street, flanked by Starbucks coffee shops if you like a break in you shopping extravagamza.

For more hidden gems I would recommend West Bow, one of the streets going down to the Grassmarket. In West bow you’ll also find Mellis, the best cheese shop in Edinburgh, a shop for tall women and down at the Grassmarket there is one of the best second hand shops I know – Armstrongs.

All in all is Edinburgh a perfect place to go shopping, all in located within walking distance – so remember your walking shoes. The nice people, the architecture and the atmosphere makes it a fantastic experience as well!

I remember “Pie in the Sky” and that you took me there, still have the skirt I bought there – and still loving it, though it’s 4-5 years old…God now I’m even more jalous than before…
